"Excavation of Roman-era residential city in Luxor: A new addition to ancient Egypt's history"

The team also discovered well-preserved copper and bronze coins, water bottles, and grinding tools.

Fathi Yassin went on to explain that as the excavation progressed, the team made the exciting discovery of two pigeon towers. The first tower measured 18 meters in length and 7 meters in width and contained a collection of pottery vessels that was a unique find for the region. Based on initial indications, it became apparent to the team that they had uncovered an industrial residential community, which is a new addition to the history of ancient Egypt in Luxor. Fathi Yassin further explained that The work team, consisting of 10 archaeologists and restorers, accompanied by about 30 excavation workers, has been busy working for months. Specialists have also worked to implement direct first aid for the artifacts discovered by the restoration team, while some of them were transferred to places designated for that task by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

Yassin also mentions the most prominent difficulties that the Egyptian archaeological mission faced during its work: "Dealing with mud bricks during excavation work is a great challenge, as everyone must dig quietly and with utmost precision with this type of antiquity to prevent damage or destruction of parts of it during the inspection of the rest of the residential city, and the task was completed successfully."
