FC Zenit Saint Petersburg, the Russian football team, visits Qaitbay Citadel in Alexandria (Egypt).

 The office of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion in Alexandria organized a tour for the youth team of the Zenit Football Club in St. Petersburg, Russia, to QaitbayCitadel in Alexandria during the team’s Alexandria day tour to the city to play a friendly match with its counterpart in the Alexandria Al-Ittihad Club, in coordination and cooperation with the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Alexandria.

Maha Galal Eid, Director General of the General Administration of Internal Offices at the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, explained that this tour coincided with the 80th anniversary of Egyptian-Russian relations and in light of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ keenness to promote Egypt trips in various tourist markets, especially the Russian market.

This is done through several promotional means, including organizing Egypt travel packages for sports stars and others during their Egypt day tours to visit its tourist and archaeological sites, introducing them to its various products, styles, activities, and tourist and archaeological components, and conveying their experience during the Egypt group tours to their friends, families, and followers on social networking sites, which contributes to encouraging them to have Egypt luxury tours to the Egyptian tourist destination and attracting more incoming tourist traffic.

She added that during the Egypt Classic tour, brochures and tourism materials were presented in Russian about the city of Alexandria and various Egyptian tourist destinations to the team members.

The participation of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion's office in Alexandria in the celebration held by the Russian Consulate at the Alexandria Opera House highlights the ongoing efforts to strengthen Egyptian-Russian relations and promote tourism between the two countries.

The event provided an opportunity for the Russian community in Alexandria to come together and celebrate longstanding bilateral ties. The presence of various consuls from different countries, such as the consuls of Italy, China, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine, further enhanced cultural exchange and cooperation.

The Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion's office played an active role by setting up an information desk equipped with tourist materials in the Russian language. These materials aimed to showcase the diverse tourist destinations in Egypt, such as the great Pyramids of Giza and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, with a particular focus on Alexandria shore excursions. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the city's rich historical and archaeological sites as well as its vibrant cultural offerings.

To commemorate the occasion, a souvenir and tourist brochure in Russian were presented to the Consul General of Russia in Alexandria, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.

The collaboration between the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion and the Russian Consulate signifies a commitment to mutual cooperation and participation in future events. This joint effort aims to further promote Egypt's tourism itineraries, including the popular Egypt Christmas tours and Egypt Easter tours, which offer unique experiences and events that blend Egypt's cultural heritage with Easter traditions.
