The Thai ambassador to Egypt visits the South Sinai archaeological sites.

The South Sinai Antiquities Area, "St. Catherine's Monastery", received Ambassador Puttaporn Iotuksan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and his accompanying delegation as part of the exploratory coordination. An Egypt luxury tour was carried out by the embassy in preparation for the visit of Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, the youngest daughter of His Majesty the King of Thailand, to the city of Sharm El-Sheikh.

During her Egypt trip, she is scheduled to visit the Monastery of St. Catherine and meet with its officials. Ahmed Adel, Director of Antiquities of South Sinai, Director of the St. Catherine Antiquities District, inspectors of the region, and several officials and monks of the monastery were honored to receive the delegation.

The visit to St. Catherine's Monastery and the development of the Great Transfiguration project with the guidance of Dr. Mostafa Waziri, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and the supervision of Dr. Abu Bakr Abdullah, the Head of the Islamic, Coptic, and Jewish Antiquities Sector.

Ghada Shalaby, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, confirmed that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities intends to promote the project of the Great Transfiguration by preparing a promotional and marketing strategy for the city to maximize the use of its tourism, Egypt group tours, archaeological, environmental, and spiritual components and to highlight the unique spiritual and tourist places it offers, in addition to the multiple tourism activities that tourists can enjoy. To stay updated on the progress of the "Great Transfiguration" project in the City of Peace, Ahmed Issa, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, assigned Ghada Shalaby, the Deputy Minister for Tourism Affairs, to visit St. Catherine in the South Sinai Governorate. The project, overseen by the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, involves comprehensive development efforts, including the construction of multiple hotel establishments such as eco-lodges and mountain hotels of different categories to accommodate tourists. The new hotels will provide a total of approximately 514 rooms, and the project also includes the establishment of hospital centers.

The Deputy Minister stressed that this project aims to highlight the unique identity of St. Catherine, which embraced the three monotheistic religions, as well as other unique spiritual places such as Wadi Al Raha, Mount Moses, and Mount Catherine, which provide a unique spiritual tourism experience for tourists.

The Deputy Minister also praised the efforts made to develop the region and expressed her thanks to all concerned parties in this regard.

During the Egypt day tour, Engineer Mohsen Saeed, head of the Sinai Reconstruction Authority, presented the general plan of the development project and the extent of its integration with the nature of the region in a way that ensures that it does not affect its distinctive character.
