A new Egyptian cultural tourist destination... Great Cairo on the global tourism map

Cairo is one of the most important Egyptian tourist destinations, as it enjoys a variety of different types of tourism, including Cairo day tours, most notably cultural, spiritual, and Nile tourism. Therefore, during the meeting with the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, directed the need to discuss mechanisms for making the city of Cairo an independent tourist destination, especially within the framework of promoting Egypt tours and the new Greater Cairo cultural product.

This came in light of the recent opening of archaeological sites in Greater Cairo, including the Suleiman Pasha Al-Khadim Mosque in the Salah El Din Citadel, the Tower of the Great Wall, the Ben Ezra Synagogue, and the Babylon Fortress.

The Minister has confirmed that the Ministry, through the Supreme Council of Antiquities, is currently undertaking various development projects in the Citadel of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi. These projects aim to restore the archaeological buildings within the citadel and enhance visitor services during their Egypt travel packages.

This includes the establishment of bazaars, cafeterias, and parking areas, all aimed at improving the overall tourist experience and enriching their visit. The inclusion of Egypt day tours to the citadel aligns with the national strategy for tourism development, specifically focusing on enhancing Egypt classic tours by improving museums and archaeological sites.

The Minister added that, as part of their visit to Greater Cairo, tourists and visitors can visit the Citadel area and the important archaeological buildings it contains, such as the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, the Mosque of Suleiman Pasha Al-Khadim, the Mosque of Al-Nasser Muhammad Ibn Qalawun, the Citadel Museum, the Military Museum, the Police Museum, the panorama of the Citadel, and other archaeological sites therein.

So that the tourist visitor can enjoy the entire Egypt luxury tour experience in this area, as part of the program for visiting the various landmarks of Greater Cairo, which allows tourists and visitors to discover the magic and ancient history of Egypt and its Pharaonic, Coptic, Jewish, and Islamic Cairo, and works to increase the number of tourist nights in the city of Cairo, especially within the Cairo day tours from the airport that are offered.

It is worth noting that the Board of Directors of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, headed by Ahmed Issa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to discuss many topics related to tourism in Egypt during the coming period.

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities welcomed the Board of Directors and praised the Supreme Council of Antiquities' financial reforms in the past fiscal year. He hoped for more reforms in 2023–2024 to ensure museums and archaeological sites receive proper expenditure and provide unique Egypt tour itineraries.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, under the leadership of Minister Ahmed Issa, is committed to promoting and developing tourism in Egypt. One of the key aspects of this effort is the focus on various types of Egypt group tours, such as Egypt Christmas tours and Egypt Easter tours. These specialized tours cater to the different interests and preferences of visitors, providing them with unique experiences during their stay in Egypt.

In addition to Egypt Nile cruise tours, which are a popular choice for those who want to have a unique and luxurious experience while exploring Egypt, Egypt shore excursions are designed for travelers arriving in Egypt on cruise ships or spending a limited time in port cities such as Alexandria, Safaga, and Soukhna.
