The opening of Imhotep Museum: Unveiling Ancient Marvels in Saqqara's Egyptian Archaeological Region
The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, through the Supreme Council of Antiquities, has completed the final touches on the Imhotep Museum development project in Saqqara. The museum is set to open in the near future, adding to the allure of the Saqqara archaeological region, which has witnessed significant new discoveries in recent times.
Dr. explained. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary General of the
Supreme Council of Antiquities, said that the restoration and development
project of the Imhotep Museum is one of the most
important projects that the Ministry worked on completing, due to its unique
privacy, as it is the most important museum of archaeological sites in Egypt.
It was established in memory and honor of the memory of the Egyptian architect
“Imhotep”.
He explained that the opening of the museum will increase
the tourist attractions in the Saqqara archaeological region, in conjunction
with the large influx of Egypt tours to the
region, especially in light of the recent discoveries in archaeology that the
area has seen.
In the same context, Brigadier General Engineer Hesham
Samir, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Antiquities and
Museums Projects and General Supervisor of the Projects Sector, undertook an
inspection Egypt day tour to follow up on the final
works of the project to develop and raise the efficiency of the museum and
develop the general site as a whole so that it is ready to receive Egyptian and
foreign visitors during their Egypt travel packages in the
coming period.
He also mentioned that the landscaping of the entire
exterior site, as well as the completion of the project's final finishing work
in the museum, from the entrance to the Saqqara archaeological area to the
museum entrance, have been completed.
He added that the development project includes replacing
damaged stone floors, raising the efficiency and height of the surrounding
walls, developing and raising the efficiency of irrigation networks in the Egypt luxury tour path area, raising the efficiency of
bathrooms, and developing visiting paths, as well as the final finishing work
for the museum’s exhibition halls and the specialized panoramic lighting work
for the site, insurance work, television surveillance, finishing of the museum
facades, and work to raise the efficiency of central air conditioning devices.
The services provided to visitors during their Cairo tours from the airport were also improved and developed by
providing the museum with a number of informational panels and interactive
display screens through which film material is shown about some of the
archaeological discoveries at the Saqqara necropolis site, in addition to

mummy, in addition to several vessels of various sizes and shapes that were
found within the pyramid of King Djoser and
those of several other Second Dynasty kings.
The museum also contains the library of the late French
engineer and archaeologist Jean-Philippe Loyer, who worked for 75 years in
Saqqara to uncover the pyramidal collection of King Djoser, and a visual
preparation hall showcasing video content about the significance of Saqqara's
archeological features. With the opening of the Imhotep Museum,
Saqqara's status as a captivating archaeological destination is further
elevated, offering visitors an extraordinary Egypt classic tour through ancient history and culture.
